Premier League 2020-21 Winner Betting Preview and Tips

Liverpool look the value bet despite losing heavily against Aston Villa in their most recent Premier League match.

The 2020-21 Premier League season kicks off on Saturday 12 September, with twenty teams hoping to enjoy a successful campaign although there’s only a handful who can realistically land the title.

While Leicester City achieved an unbelievable triumph at odds of 5,000/1 in 2016, the reality is that it was a freak occurrence and the shortlist can be narrowed down to a maximum of six teams. Many experts would make the field a good deal smaller and it would indeed be a surprise to see the champions come from outside of Liverpool or Manchester.

Should City Be Odds-On Favourites for Title?

Manchester City claimed consecutive EPL titles in 2018 and 2019 although Pep Guardiola’s men fell well short of the required standard last time out, with the Citizens losing ground on Liverpool during the early months of the campaign before switching their focus to domestic and European cup competitions instead.

While we shouldn’t read too much into the eighteen-point gap between City and Liverpool, one does wonder why the former should be such hot favourites to reclaim their Premier League crown considering that the Manchester team regularly hit the buffers against some of the other leading teams.

Nathan Ake has arrived to shore up the defence although this is a team that are becoming increasingly reliant on Kevin de Bruyne and there’s also the fact that Sergio Aguero is only going to become more injury-prone as he gets older.

Liverpool Look a Better Betting Option

Why try to mend a bike that isn’t broken? That appears to be the view of Jurgen Klopp who certainly hasn’t been in a rush to recruit new players over the summer, with Adam Lallana one notable player that has left Anfield, although the nucleus of the squad remains largely the same.

Liverpool were a points machine last season when accruing 99 points and that included a near-flawless home campaign where Burnley were the only team to stop the Reds from winning, while only five teams were able to deny them a victory on the road.

We’re struggling to understand why Liverpool are trading as big as 9/4 to win the Premier League title considering that Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah remain at the peak of their powers, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson are all players that could help Liverpool land back-to-back titles.

Can Manchester United or Chelsea Muscle In?

Manchester United ended up securing third spot in the Premier League last season although they’ll need to sustain their post-lockdown form for several months if they’re to stand any chance in the title race. Bruno Fernandes was clearly an inspired signing in January and the acquisition of Donny van den Beek looks to be a shrewd one, although it doesn’t automatically make the Red Devils title contenders.

Similarly, Chelsea have splashed the cash during the summer and the recruitment of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva certainly should make the Blues stronger although Frank Lampard still has to mould the team into challengers and we think this season might be too early for a title assault.
