Everton v Liverpool tips – back Toffees to shine in derby

Everton big betting outsiders to beat Liverpool despite Toffees boasting a 100% Premier League record, with the Reds having been defeated 7-2 at Aston Villa although things might be different in this Everton v Liverpool match

Jurgen Klopp admitted after the 7-2 thrashing at Villa Park that he would have loved to have some training sessions immediately after that heavy defeat in the Midlands, although the majority of his Liverpool players have now swanned off on international duty instead.

Even so, the German will be looking ahead to Liverpool’s next Premier League engagement and they will be making a very short journey across Stanley Park to compete in the Merseyside derby on Sunday 17 October.

Why Are Everton Such a Big Price to Win the Derby?

Some experts reckon that Everton should be betting favourites to win the Merseyside derby considering they have won all four games, enjoying victories over Tottenham, West Brom, Crystal Palace and Brighton. While collectively this isn’t the most daunting of opposition, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are getting the job done.

Midfielder Allan might be unavailable for this clash and there are also question marks over the fitness of Seamus Coleman, Richarlison and Andre Gomes, although there are still plenty of positives including the scoring form of both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez.

Calvert-Lewin will be raring to go for the clash against Liverpool and will be especially excited by the prospect of facing opponents who shipped seven goals at Villa Park, with striker Ollie Watkins helping himself to a hat-trick against the Reds.

Should Anyone Back Liverpool at Odds-On?

Liverpool travelled to Goodison Park immediately after lockdown and could manage no more than a goalless draw away to a modest Everton side, so one wonders whether they are able to do anything more in the Merseyside derby.

Jurgen Klopp will certainly want a reaction although goalkeeper Alisson looks set to miss out and there are question marks over the fitness of Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Thiago Alacantara, with the latter pair having had the COVID-19 virus for the majority of the international break.

Klopp will have to address some of the defensive issues that reared their ugly head against Villa and that might include installing Fabinho at centre-half, with Mohamed Salah currently the one shining light in attack for the champions.

What Are the Best Bets to Have?

We think that it’s worth getting with Everton on the Asian Handicap betting market and also having a little dabble on the Toffees to win the game. We think goals could be the order of the day and the majority of both teams’ matches have seen the ball hit the net on multiple occasions.
