Tottenham v Man City tips – overrated Spurs can be defeated

Manchester City can show their true colours after the international break and beat Tottenham in this Premier League clash.

Talk of Tottenham Hotspur being in the Premier League title shake-up this season could be a touch premature, with Spurs having enjoyed a robust start to the campaign and it was especially exciting to see them travel to Southampton and Manchester United before putting both teams to the proverbial sword.

However, more recent victories can be pigeon-holed as more workmanlike wins and we’re not expecting them to claim a win over Manchester City this weekend, even with Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Gareth Bale making such an exciting attacking line-up.

The truth is that Spurs have laboured to recent wins over Brighton and West Brom who are near the foot of the table and Jose Mourinho’s men have really struggled to get over the line, with the manager caught between keeping his troops defensively tight and playing sparkling attacking football.

Can the Real Manchester City Come to the Party?

Manchester City might only be sitting tenth in the Premier League standings, although Pep Guardiola’s side have played a game less than the majority of teams in the division and twelve points is still a solid enough return from seven matches played.

Guardiola will now hope that his players are up to full fitness after such a short pre-season and Kevin de Bruyne came through the international break unscathed, while the defensive issues of earlier in the season appear to have been remedied with the signing of Ruben Dias.

With Aymeric Laporte being well rested for the Citizens due to not appearing internationally for a France, everything appears to be in place for a move up the table and it could be that we’ll see Gabriel Jesus get on the goal trail after he scored against Liverpool a fortnight ago.

What Are the Best Bets for Spurs v City?

We wouldn’t put anyone off the idea of simply betting on Manchester City to win this game and they’re available at odds of 5/6 which can work either as a single of as part of a multiple bet on the Premier League.

While it’s nice to think that both teams might trade blows as part of an attacking game, both have shown some caginess in recent encounters and we think that Under 2.5 Goals is therefore a decent betting option.

Mourinho will very much regard this clash against City as one where a draw would be a good outcome and it will be very much about keeping a shape to nullify these opponents rather than trying to be too outlandish with tactics.

On this note, we’ll go for a Manchester City win to nil and there’s every chance that they can get their noses in front before seeing the game out based on the evidence of the 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
