Timo Werner Backed to Win Premier League Golden Boot

Werner as short as 17/2 to be Premier League top scorer after impressing for Chelsea and Germany in recent weeks.

Timo Werner might only have four Premier League goals on the board after eight matches played, although the money has been coming for the German to land the 2020/21 Golden Boot over the international break and perhaps we’ll see the former Leipzig striker go close this season.

Werner signed for Chelsea before the 2019/20 season ended and failed to find the net in his first four top-flight matches although he has gone on to average a goal per game for the Blues and it should also be noted that he’s been finding the net on an international front.

Is Timo Werner a Good Bet for Golden Boot?

It should be noted that the 24-year-old has scored twelve goals this season and he has just assumed penalty duties from Jorginho, with manager Frank Lampard giving Werner the responsibility of taking the spot kicks after his Italian team-mate was culpable earlier this term, with the German now well placed to fill his boots.

Bookmaker Unibet are among the firms offering 12/1 about Werner finishing top scorer in the Premier League and that looks like an excellent each-way bet considering that you will get ¼ odds for the first four places and it appears extremely unlikely that the forward will be outside the top four if he stays fit.

Werner might be four goals off the pace at the moment, although Chelsea are now in a position where they are racking up the goals on a game by game basis and we can therefore expect to see their star forward find the net on a regular basis.

Who Are the Premier League Top Scorer Favourites?

It remains a wide open contest when it comes to Premier League Golden Boot and Harry Kane is the market leader after scoring eight goals so far this season and he remains the go-to striker for Tottenham in their quest to land a top-four spot this season.

Kane is just one off the pace set by team-mate Son Heung-Min, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jamie Vardy and Mohamed Salah, although it appears as though the Egyptian has recently tested positive for COVID-19 and could miss the next Liverpool match or two in the coming weeks.

Kane and Vardy seem like rock-solid options from an each-way perspective although that’s reflected in the prices and we think that Werner looks the most attractive bet considering that he was second top in the scoring charts in the Bundesliga last season.

We’re not expecting Werner to stay at odds of 12/1 for too long and there’s a great opportunity to bet on the German international at a double figure price.
