Tottenham and Chelsea Join Premier League Title Race

Spurs and Chelsea now 5/1 to win 2020/21 Premier League title, while Manchester City drift after White Hart Lane defeat.

It looks as though we have a four-horse race for the 2020/21 Premier League title right now, with Liverpool and Manchester City being joined by in-form London clubs Tottenham and Chelsea who both landed victories at the weekend.

Spurs truly announced themselves as title contenders with a 2-0 victory over Manchester City which saw Jose Mourinho’s side soak up pressure from the visitors only to counter-attack to good effect and the north London side now sit top of the EPL table.

Are Tottenham Genuine EPL Contenders?

Tottenham sit top of the Premier League standings after generating twenty points from nine games played, with Spurs scoring from their two shots on target against Manchester City and most bookies such as Unibet have them at 5/1 to win their first title since the 1960/61 season.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min have been in excellent form although this has really been a team effort and the performances have Pierre-Emil Hjobjerg has been outstanding in recent weeks, while Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko are also performing to a high level and we’re expecting them to remain in the top four.

Much comes down to whether Tottenham are able to break down defensive teams who will be lining up in a cagey fashion, although it’s been a convincing start for the team considering that they were beaten at home to Everton in their first game.

Chelsea Also Trading at 5/1 to Be Champions

Chelsea supporters have enjoyed plenty of success over the past few years, mainly down to Jose Mourinho being in charge although the Blues seem well equipped for a successful season under Frank Lampard and the west London side sit in a respectable third position in the table after their 2-0 win at Newcastle.

It appears that Lampard has now managed to achieve a strong balance between keeping a tight defence and a strong offence, with Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech playing either side of Tammy Abraham in recent weeks, while N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic are excellent options in the midfield department.

Kurt Zouma is now looking the part in central defence, while Ben Chilwell and Reece James are excellent full-backs and it wouldn’t be a great surprise if we found them in the mix at the end of the season.

Liverpool Now Favourites as City Drift on Title Market

Liverpool produced an outstanding performance to beat Leicester City 3-0 despite missing a number of key players and the Reds are no bigger than 6/4 to retain the title that they won at a canter last term.

Jurgen Klopp’s side look the likeliest team to win the title at this point in time, with Manchester City eight points off the pace being set at the top of the table although Pep Guardiola’s side do have a game in hand and perhaps it’s too early to be writing them off.
